Tuumo & Mobii è un set di mobili per i bambini che iniziano la scuola elementare, progettato per facilitare la transizione dal gioco alla scuola. La seduta Tuumo favorisce diverse posture natuarali, rafforza i muscoli principali, e il suo moto rotatorio in posizione verticale

"Books at Home"

"Books at Home" è un progetto realizzato a Clichy - sous -Bois dal Salon du Livre et de la Presse Jeunesse, con il sostegno della Fondazione Carla Bruni - Sarkozy.
"Il progetto è basato su una semplice osservazione: molti bambini non hanno libri, alcuna biblioteca, nessun posto in cui sedersi per leggere. Se un libro non ha il suo posto, il suo tempo , avrà molte meno probabilità di esistere nella vita quotidiana di un bambino. Avere i propri libri a casa, i libri che abbiamo scelto, che ci appartengono, è cruciale per invogliare alla lettura e, soprattutto, per rendere la lettura una pratica regolare " spiega Sylvie Vassallo , direttore del Salon du Livre et de la Presse Jeunesse a Seine-Saint-Denis .
L'obiettivo :
Per incoraggiare la pratica della lettura ai bambini in modo divertente e indipendente , rendendo il libro una parte integrante del tempo di una famiglia.
La libreria è stata progettata appositamente per il progetto da A + A Cooren Design Studio.
Ispirato da mobili comunemente utilizzati nelle biblioteche e negli asili nido, la libreria disegnata da A + A Cooren Design Studio ospita libri divertenti e invitanti di ogni formato.
Offerta al giovane lettore, la libreria offre una vista invitante dei libri, e offre una gestione facile e degli stessi.
Realizzata in legno chiaro e in parte rivestita con vernice lavagna, fornita anche di un rotolo di carta bianca con uno spazio per gesso e matite, questa piccola libreria multi- funzionale, offre uno spazio ideale per la lettura e la scrittura. Una lampada portatile illumina le diverse postazioni di lettura dell'utente.  Una rete offre uno spazio dove poter riporre un cuscino o piccoli oggetti personali come una coperta.
"La particolare cura fornita dai progettisti per creare questa libreria, con particolare attenzione ai genitori in modo che possano sentirsi a proprio agio nella scelta dei libri, rende questo progetto un esperimento innovativo nella lotta contro l'analfabetismo" dice il Direttore del Salon du Livre et de la Presse Jeunesse, a Seine -Saint - Denis .

"Books at Home" is a new project implemented in Clichy-sous-Bois by Salon du Livre et de la Presse Jeunesse (The Youth Book and Press Fair) with the support of the Foundation Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.
"The project is based on a simple observation: many children have no books, no library, no place to sit. If the book does not have its own place, its time, it was far less likely to exist in the child's everyday life. Having books at home, books that we have chosen, which belong to us, is crucial to create the click of reading and especially to install in a regular practice." The objective:
To encourage the practice of reading to children in an enjoyable and independent way by making the book a part of the family time.
The bookcase has been designed specifically for the project by A+A Cooren Design Studio.
Inspired by furniture commonly used in libraries and kindergartens, the bookcase designed by A+A Cooren Design Studio displays inviting and colorful book covers in all formats.
Offered to the young reader, the bookcase gives an inviting view of the books, and provides easy and convenient handling. 
Made of clear wood which is partly coated with blackboard paint, expanded with a roll of white paper with a space for chalk and pencils, this small piece of multi-functional furniture offers an ideal space for reading and writing. A portable lamp illuminates the different reading postures of the user. A net offers a storage space for a cushion or small personal items such as a blanket.
"The special care provided by the designers to create this bookcase, with attention to the parents so that they may feel comfortable in the choice of books and the reading time, makes this project an innovative experiment in the fight against illiteracy."

"POP-UP FURNITURE" by Mariko Tsujimoto

Al Salone Satellite abbiamo avuto modo di imbatterci in un interessante progetto della giovane designer giapponese Mariko Tsujimoto. Si tratta di una serie di mobili pop up, che si possono facilmente trasportare in quanto leggerissimi, ma che una volta aperti si trasformano in una sedia, in un tavolino, un comodino…sono colorati, comodi, bellissimi!

PIMP MY STUVA
Si tratta di un progetto che approfondisce in che modo si può "elaborare" un mobile per la cameretta, per l'appunto l'armadio STUVA di Ikea, ripensandolo, rendendolo più "nostro e dei bambini", meno anonimo.
I presupposti sono quelli di partire da STUVA che è un armadio popolare e grazie ad un lavoro che può/deve essere fatto in casa e ad un kit di materiali (basta un pezzo di legno, un pò di colla, un traforo delle viti ed un pò di manualità) ci consente di aggiungere le maniglie a forma di cuore al posto del precedente intaglio rettangolare di serie.

PIMP MY STUVA

It is a project that explores how you can "change" a piece of furniture, in this case we are talking about the famous closet STUVA of Ikea. The designer let it look more "for children" and less anonymous.
STUVA is a popular wardrobe and you can change its look just with a simple kit: a piece of wood, some glue, some screws and bolts and a bit of creativity. This will allow you to add the handles in the shape of heart in place of the previous rectangular notches.

THE BARBIE LOFT
THE BARBIE LOFT è una casa per le Barbie, ma realizzata con componenti di riciclo derivanti della filiera dell'industria del mobile. E' un contenitore all-in-one, pensato per riporre in un unico posto (ed evitare il caos consueto) tutto ciò è delle barbie:

- piano terra: cassetto per i vestitini, per le scarpe, borse, accessori, coperte, piatti, etc..etc..
- piano primo: magazzino delle Barbie (con chiusura, così non scappano)
- piano secondo: il loft di Barbie. Lo si apre, aprendo il tetto e tutti i mobili vengono raccolti sotto il tetto chiuso, una volta che si deve fare ordine.

It is a loft for Barbie, but made by recycling furniture components.
 It 's an all-in-one container, designed to stow in one place (in order to avoid the usual chaos) everything related to your Barbie:
- Ground floor: it is a drawer for clothes, for shoes, bags, accessories, bedding, dishes, etc. .. etc. ..
- First floor: you can put there all your Barbies (it is closed, so they won’t  run away)
- Second floor: it is the loft of Barbie. You can open it, you can open the roof and you will find all the furniture under the closed roof.

PORTIQUEARMCHAIR

PortiqueArmchair, è una sedia che si ispira alle altalene dei giardinetti, così come i ponti di carico e scaricomerci dal porto di Nantes / SaintNazaire. Il designer, Florent Coirier, originario della città di Nantes, ha infatti creato questo prototipo insieme agli artigiani del "Autonomous Port, GPM Nantes / Saint-Nazaire".  Avvalendosi delle competenze di calderai e falegnami, la sedia utilizza materiali comuni alla costruzione navale.

Per esempio la corda è sostituita dalla corda nautica in poliestere e poliammide, più forte e più varia nella scelta dei colori. Questa sedia gioca con gli archetipi dei giochi da giardino, e ci riporta ai nostri ricordi d'infanzia.

PortiqueArmchair, is a chair, inspired by the garden swings, as well as walk-loading of goods from the port of Nantes / SaintNazaire. Florent Coirier, native from Nantes city, has made this prototype together with the craftsmen of the Autonomous Port, GPM Nantes / Saint-Nazaire. Drawing on the expertise of boilermakers and carpenters workshops, the chair uses materials common to shipbuilding. The Traditional natural rope, for instance, is replaced by the nautical rope in polyester and polyamide, stronger and more varied in choice of colors. This chair plays with the archetypes of garden games, and refers directly to our childhood feelings.

GOOD NIGHT LAMP, mai più soli!

 Oggi vi parliamo di un set di lampade davvero speciale.
"Good night lamp" non è ancora in vendita purtroppo, ma potete comunque prenotare una "famiglia di lampade" qui su Kickstarter contribuendo così alla realizzazione di questo stupendo progetto.
Di cosa si tratta di preciso? Bhe, immaginate di rientrare a casa e di accendere una lampada...e ora immaginate che quella lampada ne accenda altre 3 anche a km di distanza.
Cosa significa tutto questo? Semplice! Che potrete rimanere in contatto con le persone che più amate, che potrete sempre sapere se i vostri figli, che magari studiano in un'altra città, sono rientrati a casa, se dormono oppure se hanno finito di leggere e sono pronti a farsi cullare dalle braccia di Morfeo. Un modo semplice e immediato per comunicare, più "caldo" e "famigliare" di un social network, di un sms, di una telefonata. Una luce vi parlerà: "sono a casa, mamma", "butta la pasta, amore", "esco ora dall'ufficio papà".

The Good Night Lamp is a family of internet-connected lamps. Turn the Big Lamp on and the Little Lamps turn on wherever they are.
What does this mean? It's very simple!It means that you will be able to keep in touch with the people you love the most, that you will always know if your children, maybe studying in another city, came back home, if they are going to bed, or if they have finished reading and are ready to rest in the arms of Morpheus. A simple and immediate way to communicate, a "warmer" and "familiar" way to connect to your loved ones around the world at the flick of a switch. Much better than a social network, a text message, a phone call. A physical social network.Use it to connect to your family in another timezone: "Mum, I am going to bed", "Dad, I've just finished to work", "darling, I'll be home in a while".

PLAY

PLAY mette in mostra 10 progetti realizzati da dagli studenti dell'Università Nazionale di Singapore, facoltà di Disegno Industriale. Nel corso di 11 settimane, gli studenti hanno esplorato l'atto del gioco e l'hanno proposto in una serie di contesti diversi.
PLAY è uno studio di design guidato da Clement Zheng e Studio Juju. Lo studio adotta principalmente un approccio "hands-on" nella sua indagine, e vuole esprimere l'essenza del gioco attraverso prototipi e narrazione.

PLAY showcases 10 projects by the students from the National University of Singapore, Division of Industrial Design. Over a course of 11 weeks, the students explored the act of play and meaningfully introduced play into a series of various contexts. Each project, not mere toys, is an investigation into designs that bring out refreshing play experiences.
PLAY is a design studio that was led by Clement Zheng and Studio Juju. The studio primarily adopts a hands-on approach in its investigation, setting out to express the essence of play through prototypes and story telling.

Per noi Adriana è ormai un'amica, che purtroppo non conosciamo ancora di persona, ma della quale leggiamo stralci di vita privata e lavorativa nei post del suo bellissimo blog Kid’s Modulor. I suoi articoli sono a nostro avviso interessantissimi, fanno a volte sorridere, altre commuovere, e comunque fanno sempre riflettere su diversi temi.
Even if we consider Adriana as a friend, we do not know her in person yet. We read about her personal life and her job on her blog, Kid’s Modulor, though.  We find her posts interesting, sometimes they make us smile, sometimes they make us cry as they are heart touching, but anyway they always make you think about different topics.

In un suo recente post ha presentato un progetto chiamato "Casita", un letto-casetta ideato per i piccoli e adatto alle esigenze dei grandi, un progetto iniziato insieme alla sua piccola Marta (Adriana è mamma di tre bambini) nel dicembre 2011 e che ora ha preso finalmente forma.

In a recent post she has introduced a project called “Casita”, a bed-house designed for kids which also meets adults’ needs, a  project that she started with her little daughter Marta (Adriana is a mother of three children) in December 2011 and which now has finally taken shape.

1)In breve, raccontaci qualcosa di te, Adriana.
Adriana, Tell us something about yourself
 
Sono una venezuelana che vive a Roma da più di dieci anni, architetto e mamma di tre figli.  Dal Venezuela mi sono portata una certa forma di relax, in generale non amo le ansie, e una nostra intrinseca capacità d’improvvisazione che uso al meglio ogni volta che mi trovo davanti a qualcosa di nuovo e sconosciuto.  A questo aggiungo una forma di ordine quasi maniacale (tranne con il tempo), un alto livello di esigenza verso il mio lavoro e una strana capacità di dimenticarsi del mondo intero quando sto con la mia famiglia.  Ed eccoci qua:  un mix latin - svizzero che non so se funziona molto bene ma sicuramente a Roma trova un buon punto d’incontro. 
I am a Venezuelan who lived in Rome for more than ten years, I work as an architect and I am the mother of three children. As a Venezuelan I am a laid back person, in general I do not like the anxieties, and I also have great improvisation skills that I use whenever I am force to face something new. I'm an obsessively tidy person (except when it comes to time), my work requires that I be demanding of myself and I have the ability to forget the whole world when I'm with my family. And here we are: a Latin-Swiss who I am not sure works very well in Rome but certainly is a good match point.

2)Qual è il tuo background e come sei arrivata dove sei?
Which is your background and how did you get where you are?

Laurea in architettura giovanissima, a 22 anni, a Caracas, due master, uno a Firenze e uno a Roma, diversi anni di lavoro in studi di architettura qui e in Venezuela e nel 2005 l’inizio di un proprio percorso professionale insieme a Luigi, mio marito. 
Adoro il mio lavoro, lo faccio con grande dedizione, ma per me è altrettanto importante il mio ruolo come madre, al quale do molto spazio nella mia vita.  Kid’s Modulor è figlio di queste due cose .
I obtained a Degree in architecture when I was very young in Caracas, ( 22 years old) , two masters, one in Florence and one in Rome, I have several years of work experience with architectural firms here and in Venezuela and in 2005 I started to work with Luigi, my husband here in Rome.
I love my job, I do it with great dedication, but i think that a Mother's role in the family is equally important and this is the reason why I give my family the time they deserve. Kid's Modulor came as  the result of these two things.

3)Quali sono state le maggiori difficoltà che hai incontrato ma anche le più grandi soddisfazioni che ti ha dato il progetto Casita?
What major problems did you encounter and what has been your greatest achievement with the project "Casita"?

Direi che la maggiore difficoltà, fino ad adesso, è stata trovare un produttore serio che avesse fiducia nel progetto: non è finita, manca ancora la parte della commercializzazione, che un po’ mi spaventa, ma per il momento sono già contenta di essere arrivata a concretizzare il progetto.
La maggiore soddisfazione è vedere mia figlia che adora la sua “Casita”, che le piace stare dentro con i suoi pupazzi, leggere, giocare, dormire.  Per me vuol dire che funziona.
I would say that the greatest difficulty, until now, has been to find a serious manufacturer who believed  in my project: And anyway it's not over, there is still the part concerning the marketing, which scares me a bit, but now i am  happy to have been able at least to realize my project.
The greatest satisfaction is to see my daughter adoring her "Casita", she likes to stay inside it with her puppets, she loves to read, play, sleep in it. This means to me that the project was a succes!

4)Le tue fonti di ispirazione, quali sono? Nella vita reale, ma anche nel cinema, nell'arte, nel design etc..
What are your daily sources of inspiration?  daily facts, movies , art, design, etc..

Sono sempre alla ricerca di poesia.  Non solo tra le righe di un bel libro ma anche la poesia delle immagini di un bel film, dei corpi che danzano, di un materiale che prende vita in una scultura. Tante cose possono essere d’ispirazione, anche una scena di vita quotidiana, ma diciamo che avere accesso alla cultura ti permette di vedere le potenzialità umane che arrivano a fare cose meravigliose.  Questo è d’ispirazione.  Cerco di ritagliare un po’ di spazio per andare a vedere un bel film o un bello spettacolo di danza ogni tanto.  La cultura è una fonte di energia vitale per me. 
In un ambito più casalingo invece quando i miei figli mi sorprendono con una risposta diversa e inaspettata mi sembra di trovarmi davanti a qualcosa di veramente autentico.  Anche quella è una vera ispirazione!. 
I'm always looking for poetry, not only between the lines of a good book but also the poetry of some images in a good movie, the poetry of dancing bodies, the poetry of what comes into life thanks to a sculpture. There are so many things that can be inspiring, even a scene of everyday life, but let's say that if you have access to knowledge you will be able to see the human potential that is able to create wonderful things. This is inspiring. I always try to carve out a little time to go to the cinema or to go to see a dance show every now and then. Knowledge  is a vital source of energy for me.
In my private life I feel I am experiencing something new and authentic every time my kids  when surprise me with a different and unexpected answer . Even that is a true source of inspiration!

5)La cosa che ti piace di più del tuo lavoro e quella che sopporti meno.
what do you love most about wht you do and what do you like least?

Quella che mi piace di più è entrare nel dettaglio della realizzazione di un ambiente, di un mobile o di un particolare architettonico.  Credo effettivamente che nei dettagli sta la differenza.  Quella che sopporto di meno è che occupandomi sempre della parte di progettazione ho poco contatto con la materia, e quindi difficoltà a comprenderla nel profondo.  Mi piacerebbe spendere più tempo vicino agli artigiani per imparare da loro. 
The one I like the most is the fact of being in the position to investigate in details the realization of an environment,  a piece of furniture or an architectural detail. I think actually that details make a world of difference. The thing that I like least is the fact that I am usually in charge for the design of a project, so I do not have a great contact with the materials, which makes it difficult for me to understand it deeply. I'd like to spend more time close to the manufacturers and the artisan  and to learn from them.

6)Com’è il tuo ambiente di lavoro?
What is you workspace like?

Il mio ambiente di lavoro è ideale sotto molti punti di vista.  Lo studio lo abbiamo disegnato noi, quindi è perfettamente adatto alle nostre esigenze, é a cinque minuti da casa, cosa già di per sé preziosa soprattutto a Roma, i miei orari sono flessibili e non devo dare conto a nessuno se si ammalano i bambini, trovo la solitudine che mi serve per concentrarmi, insomma, il sogno di chiunque!.  L’unica cosa che mi manca é poter confrontarmi anche con altre persone oltre a Luigi, che vedo tutti i giorni, ma direi  che non mi posso lamentare!.
My work environment is ideal in many respects. Our Studio has been designed by ourselves, so it perfectly meets our needs, it is a five-minute walk from where we live, which is such a strenght point especially in Rome, my work time is flexible and I do not have to give account to anyone if I have to look after my sick kids, I find there the solitude I need in order to focus and  in short...my workplace is the dream of anyone!. The only thing I miss is the lack of comparison with other people, a part from my husband Luigi, who I see on a daily basis. But...I think I cannot complain about it!

7)Se ti potessi svegliare nei panni di un famoso architetto, chi sarebbe e perché?

If you could wake up a morning and live the life of another architect, who would it be, and why?

Beh le vite degli architetti famosi sono speso tormentose, non credo di voler vivere al posto loro, ma se mi domandi chi è il mio architetto favorito oggi ti direi Peter Zumthor  un architetto che nasce come artigiano e quindi che crea a partire dalla materia, le sue opere sono il risultato di una autenticità costruttiva con una enorme carica di poesia.
Well the lives of famous architects are often troubled, I do not think I would love to live someone else’s life, but if you ask me who is my favorite architect I would certainly say Peter Zumthor who started his career as a carpenter  which means that he created from rustic building materials, and who created objects which are the result of a constructive authenticity with a huge load of poetry.

8) Cosa ti manca del Venezuela e cosa ti mancherebbe di Roma?
What do you miss of Venezuela and what would you miss of Rome instead?

Del Venezuela mi manca la montagna immensa che trovavo ogni mattina davanti alla mia finestra, la freschezza e la leggerezza delle persone che sono immediate e calorose anche senza conoscerti, le palme di cocco vicino alla spiaggia, la pioggia tropicale dove senti tutta la forza della natura cadere sulla tua testa.
Di Roma mi mancherebbero le mani che parlano insieme alle persone, i pini mediterranei che sorgono tra i palazzi e comunque arrivano al cielo, fare una passeggiata in centro e trovarsi di fronte a Sant’Ivo alla Sapienza, i supplì e un buon caffè.  
When I am asked what I miss of  Venezuela  I have these to list: I miss the huge mountain that stood in front of my window every morning, the freshness and lightness of the people who are close and warm even without knowing you, the coconut palms near the beach, the tropical rainfalls that make you feel the full force of nature falling on your head.
When I am asked what I would miss of  Rome  I would say the Italians who gesture while talking the maritime pines that arise between the buildings and still reach the sky, the possibility to take a walk downtown and find yourself in front of St. Ivo alla Sapienza, the rice balls and the good coffee.

9) Un film, un libro, una canzone, un blog.
A movie, a book, a song, a blog.

Più che un film un regista che mi piace moltissimo è Cassavetes, tra i suoi film:  “Una moglie” (Woman under the influence).  Un libro:  “L’altra Ester” di Magda Szavò.   Una canzone :  “Temptation” di Tom Waits, e dalla mia anima latina:  “El raton”  Fania All Stars.
Un blog su temi dell’infanzia che seguo assiduamente è quello della libreria Radice Labirinto di Carpi, ve lo consiglio vivamente. 
More than a movie I would mention a film director who I like very much, who is Cassavetes, among his film I love: "A wife" (Woman Under the Influence). A book: "The other Esther" by Magda Szavò. A song: "Temptation" by Tom Waits, and from my Latin soul: "El raton" FaniaAll Stars.

10) hai altri progetti legati al mondo dei bambini di cui vuoi anticiparci qualcosa?
Are you already working on new projects realted to kids? Would you like to talk us about them?

Si tanti, più di quanti possa effettivamente realizzare, ma diciamo che il prossimo sarà un piccolo oggetto quotidiano pensato per i più piccoli, per facilitare la loro autonomia. 
I  have more projects than I can actually realize, but let's say that the next project will be a small daily object which will help kids to increase their autonomy.

Una volta ho letto un’intervista a un designer dove gli facevano questa bella domanda:  Quale è l’oggetto (o spazio) per bambini che vorresti ridisegnare?.  Lui ha dato questa risposta che mi ha sorpreso e che trovo meravigliosa:  la città.  Ecco, io la penso esattamente come lui. 
Once I read an interview with a designer and he has been asked this beautiful question: What is the object (or space) for children you would love to redesign?
 He gave this answer that surprised me and that I find beautiful: “the city”. Well, I think exactly the same.
