Mirim Seo: Sew Spectactular, Adorable Animals

Di Mirim Seo e dei suoi incantevoli progetti vi avevamo già parlato qui. Originaria dalla Corea del Sud, Mirim Seo è una graphic designer, illustratore e artista.
Mirim si ispira da sempre alla sostenibilità, alla natura, agli animali, al vintage, ai giocattoli e all'arte del ricamo.
Il suo progetto SEW è finalmente sabrcato sul mercato! Si chiama Sew Spectacular: Adorable Animals by Chronicle Books.
Si tratta di un gioco che insegna le tecniche del cucito attraverso il completamento di schemi che ritraggono  una serie di animali ed composto da 12 Animal cards, 6 schemi di cucito, 1 ago, 1 punteruolo and libretto di istruzioni. 
Noi lo aspettavamo da tanto!

We wrote about Mirim Seo and her stunning projects in the past (find it here. Originally from South Korea, Mirim Seo is a graphic designer, illustrator and artist and she is always inspired by sustainability, nature, animals, vintage, toys and embroidery.
We are proud to share her recent project, Sew Spectacular Adorable Animals by Chronicle books, with you. The original project was posted on our blog, and now it is officially into the market!!
This is a game to learn hand-sewing techniques by completing the patterns on some paper animals. It comes with 12 Animal cards, 6 Embroidery Skeins, 1 Blunt Needle, 1 Pushpin and Booklet with directios.

Ashley è una designer e un'artista (ha un Master in Fine Arts), ama la moda e al design ed è alla continua ricerca di cose uniche e convenienti per il suo bambino. Per questo motivo ha deciso di cimentarsi lei stessa nella produzione di cuffiette e di magliette per lui e non solo! We would to introduce you a very nice Etsy shop, ERSHWARE.  Ashley Thorner is focusing on hip modern and eco friendly hats and t-shirts for babies and toddlers.  As an artist and designer with a love of fashion and modern design, she struggled to find unique, modern and affordable clothes for her son.  Drawing on her design background (MFA and MLA) and her past life as a pattern maker, she started to make one-of-a-kind, upcycled  hats for her baby, using well-loved t-shirts.  It’s a fun mixture of simple modern design and kitsch/over the top pop art that is both stylish and functional.

SWOON STUDIO E LA SUA CULLA PER BAMBOLE!

Invidiamo chi se la cava con ago e filo e chi riesce a trasformare un'idea riporatata su un foglio di  carta in qualcosa di concreto.
Ed è per questo motivo che ci ha colpito questa meravigliosa culla/amaca per bambole, realizzata da Randi di SwoonStudio, un bellissimo blog che vi consigliamo di leggere!

FABELAB é stato ideato dall'architetto e mamma di due bambini Michaela Weisskirchner di Copenhagen.
Michaela crede fermamente nel riutilizzo delle risorse, infatti tutti i prodotti sono studiati e pensati per non essere mai sprecati.
Ha progettato questo splendido tappeto-gioco imbottito, che può essere usato anche come coperta oppure può essere ripiegato e utilizzato come gioco creativo trasformandosi in un cappello, una barca, un cigno, ecc....
Fabelab non spreca nulla, infatti dai resti dei grandi tappeti, crea altri bellissimi oggetti come borse da ginnastica, sacchi porta giochi o porta-merenda.
I prodotti sono tre: play-fold-bird, little bird mobile e cuddly bird.

FABELAB has been designed by the architect and mother of two children Michaela Weisskirchner of Copenhagen.
Michaela believes in reusing resources, in fact all her products are meant never to be wasted.
She designed this beautiful carpet, which can also be used as a blanket or it can be folded and used as a creative game (it can be tranformed into a hat, a boat, a swan, etc. ....)FABELAB believes in taking responsible actions regarding production and following a zero waste philosophy that encourages the redesign of resources. For example, when she designed her products she saw the opportunity to make some them from the cut-offs of other products – this way all material can be used and nothing goes to waste.

CARAMBOUILLES

Un semplice kit di cucito progettato da Tantopo, colei che si cela dietro al negozio Etsy Carambouilles.
I tessuti in 100% cotone sono serigrafati dalla graphic designer francese in un piccolo studio di stampa, non lontano da Parigi. Tanpopo ha iniziato ad apprezzare l’arte del fai da te in Giappone, dove ha vissuto fino ai 17 anni di età
Perfetti per bambini dai 3 anni in su i  kit, una volta piegati, sono portabili e potranno intrattenere i nostri piccoli in aereo, nella sala d'attesa del medico etc.
Ogni kit comprende il tessuto stampato con le forme da ritagliare e le istruzioni per costruire il proprio giocattolo in stoffa. Facile, no?

Per quanto riguarda la graphic designer francese, di se dice che ha sempre amato disegnare, che tutto nella sua infanzia riconduceva ad una matita e a della carta. Ha sempre lavorato in bianco e nero fino a quando è diventata mamma. La maternità l’ha portata al colore, al cucito, ai tessuti. Ha imparato l’arte della serigrafia su tessuto e ha iniziato a produrre kit per bambini.
A proposito del nome del negozio: "Carambouilles"…l’artista ama questa parola che suona così tipicamente francese! Per i francesi la parola riporta al "Carambar" (un bastoncino in caramello che ogni bambino francese adora!) e a "Bouille" (una parola che indica le guance paffute di bambini piccoli).

A simple sewing kit designed by Tantopo who owns the Etsy Shop Carambouilles. She hand-screenprinted them on 100% cotton fabric in a little printing studio, not far from Paris.
This kit is a great gift, even for people who have a little sewing experience. The completed cosy makes a cute cuddly present - handmade by you.
The cosy and the cars are perfect for children aged 3 and above. Once it’s folded, the Cosy fits perfectly any mother’s handbag and makes trips between the house and the restaurant, the park, the doctor’s waiting room … The Cars love to travel !
Each kit includes the hand-screen printed cotton fabric with shapes to cut out and full illustrated instructions to make this fabric toy. All you need is stuffing of your choice !

With reference to the French designer, she has always loved to draw, and that she has always had a pencil in her hand to doodle away.  She used to work in black and white, constructing lines and shapes with my inks and my cameras. One day, she became a mom and everything changed. In her life came color and softness, volume and fabric. She taught herself to sew and to knit. She began to "draw" with embroidery techniques and fabric paints. As she loved to experiment with new techniques, she learned how to screen print on fabric and everything fell in place.
About the name of her shop : "Carambouilles". She loves this word that sounds so typically French! To a French ear, it refers both to "Carambar" (a caramel stick every child craves for in France) and "Bouille" (a word that designate the chubby cheeks of toddlers).

Oggi vi parliamo di MIRIM SEO una graphic designer di Philadelphia che fa cose MERAVIGLIOSE. 
Iniziamo da CHOMP:
I libri/puzzle "Chomp" sono progettati per insegnare ai bambini il concetto di catena alimentare. Ogni puzzle introduce le catene alimentari in diversi ambienti e cioè nella foresta, nel mare, nel circolo polare artico, nella Giungla, e nel deserto. Una volta completato, il puzzle, mostra l'intero processo alimentare.

Let's feature MIRIM SEO and some of her WONDERFUL projects.
Let's start with CHOMP:
"Chomp" puzzle books are designed to teach kids about basic food chains. Each puzzle introduces a different level of a food chain in its environment; Forest, Ocean, Arctic, Jungle, and Desert. All food chains include, producers, consumers, and decomposers and each plays a role in the chain. When completed, the puzzle shows the eating process.

Un altro fantastico progetto è il suo S.E.W. che in inglese sta per "Saving Endangered Wildlife" (salvare le specie in pericolo)
Si tratta di un gioco che insegna le tecniche del cucito attraverso il completamento di schemi che ritraggono
una serie di animali in via di estinzione che vivono nella foresta pluviale. Il gioco è composto da 8 animali con fori per un facile montaggio e di un libro di istruzioni.
Gli animali vengono completati con la cucitura a mano, e i bambini possono anche creare il proprio disegno. Ci sono diversi livelli di difficoltà, dal livello 1 al livello 8.
S.E.W. quindi non solo insegna ai bambini l'arte del cucito, ma anche quali sono le speci animali in via di estinzione nella foresta pluviale.

S.E.W. means "Saving Endangered Wildlife". This is a game to learn hand-sewing techniques by completing the patterns
on the endangered rainforest animals. It comes with 8 animal pieces with stitch-holes for easy assembly and an instruction book.
The animals are completed by hand-sewing and kids can also create their own animal design. It includes the level of sewing difficulty from  Level 1 to Level 8. SEW will teach kids not only hand-sewing techniques but also about endangered species in the rainforest.
