& ME - Pitti 86 -Unduetrestella

Thanks to Francesca (Threelittlepigs Blog) and Paola Noè (Unduetrestella) I have been able to have a look at the news presented by the Brand &ME (see our post dated 2015) at Pitti Bimbo 86 (Florence, 18 -20 January).
I have always loved their love for handmade and their use of natural materials and timeless forms. Have a look at their new (and old, why not?) collection, you will love it for sure.
Here, my personal selection:

BABY GIM
The new &me baby gym uses similar design elements as its bigger brother the &me crib. Created as a visually appealing addition to your babys environment whilst still having actual function in tactilly and visually entertaining your little one.

BABY PUZZLE
Wood puzzle with modern archetype forms.

99 NUMBERS
This new toy is both educative and decorative. It is a way to learn counting and numbers playfully. You can count from 00 to 99. While playing with it, kids learn their numbers.
It is inspired by old-fashioned numbers from ball games.

WOOD CLOCK
A funny way of learning how to read the time on a clock.

Serena Viola  è un,artista, illustratrice e Visual Designer che vive e lavora a Milano. Ha vinto un Award dell’Illustrazione Italiana, ha esposto alla Biblioteca della Moda, alla casa d’aste San Lorenzo, alla Galleria Cavaciuti di Milano, alla Fabbrica del Vapore e in diverse mostre internazionali di illustrazione. Compare nell’Annual dell’Illustrazione Italiana dal 2007 al 2015. Collabora e ha collaborato con case editrici e con le più importanti agenzie realizzando opere per brand internazionali.

Serena Viola is an Artist, illustrator and Visual Designer, who lives and works in Milan. She was awarded a Prize by Illustrazione Italia, she attended several international exhibitions both abroad and in Milan at Galleria Cavaciuti, Biblioteca della Moda, San Lorenzo action house, Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan. She is being mentioned on Annuale dell’illustrazione Italiana from 2007 up to 2015. She cooperates with publishing houses and main agencies designing for worldwide brands. 

Seremini è un progetto di Serena, è  un seme, una cosa piccola ma importante come l’origine di tutte le cose. E' un ritratto, il fermo immagine dell’attimo in cui la meraviglia è tutto quello che ci circonda. Dove le cose azzurre non si mangiano, il cielo è molle, prendo una nuvola e vado a Barcellona, io sto dalla parte dei pistilli, meno male che non sono nato a Parigi perché non conosco una parola di francese, non ho bisogno che sia facile, ho bisogno che ne valga la pena.

Seremini is a seed, it is something small but important as the origin of all things.
It is a portrait, a still image of the moment when the wonder is all around us. It is the place where light blue things are not meant to be eaten, where the sky is soft, where you can take a cloud and go to Barcelona, where you can be on the side of pistils, where you feel lucky not to be French as you don't know a word of French, where you do not need it to be easy, you just  need that it's worth it.

OutForSpace ha riportato in luce l'uso del rattan, materiale a lungo dimenticato. Il rattan è un tipo di palma originaria delle aree tropicali dell’Africa, Asia e America Latina. Attraverso un processo brevettato, il rattan naturale acquisisce una colorazione particolare e migliora le sue proprietà. Una volta trattato questo materiale prende il nome di Karuun. Questo trattamento permette l'uso del rattan in forme non ancora prese in considerazione e lo annovera tra i nuovi materiali ecologici per la realizzazione id prodotti di alta qualità.

OutForSpace ridiscovered the use of rattan, a long forgotten (it is a type of palm tree native to the tropical areas of Africa, Asia and Latin America). Through a patented process, the natural rattan acquires a particular color and improves its properties. Once  treated this material is called Karuun. This treatment allows the use of rattan in new ways and makes it one of the new eco-friendly materials for the production of high quality products.

Changuitos, che in America Latina vuol dire “scimmiette”, è l’espressione dell’amore per le cose fatte a mano, per i bambini.
Per Alejandra ogni bimbo è un changuito, una scimmietta, vivace, allegra, divertente e piena di magia… sono proprio i bambini ad ispirarla e spingerla a leggere i loro sogni e bisogni.
I disegni sono il risultato delle diverse culture incontrate sul lungo cammino che ha percorso Alejandra iniziato in Colombia, passato per Londra, la Spagna e infine l’Italia, dove attualmente vive: un vortice di colori e personaggi che raccontano una storia.

Changuitos, which in Latin America means “little monkeys”, is the expression of love for handmade things made for children.
Alejandra says:"To me every child is a changuito, a lively, cheerful, funny little monkey full of magic. Children inspire me and help me understand their needs".
"My designs are the result of different cultures I have known along my journey. Started in Colombia, went through London and Spain to finally arrive in Italy, where I currently live. They are a vortex of colours and characters telling a story."
