Ma Lina non è una mensola tra le mensole, Lina è soprattutto il sogno di una mamma che si realizza, un progetto che coinvolge una famiglia, ha la sua storia, il suo perchè, i suoi retroscena
But Lina is not a shelf between the shelves, Lina is of first all a mother's dream that come true, a project that involves a family, it has its own history, its own story and its onw background.
Menso-Lina: ma chi c'è dietro? C'è Valentina Beato, mamma di due bambini e curatrice del blog designperbambini.it, una laurea in Fisica, un lavoro a tempo pieno come consulente ed una grandissima passione per il design e gli interni.
Menso-Lina: who is behind this project? There is Valentina Beato, mother of two and editor of the blog designperbambini.it. She has a degree in Physics, a full-time job as a consultant and a great passion for design and interior.

1)Una blogger, una mamma, una donna che lavora....chi è davvero valentina? A blogger, a mum, a working woman...who is valentina?
Bah,
chi sono...sono sicuramente una poco costante, che a volte si piace ed a
volte è molto insoddisfatta di se, che a volte è paziente ed a volte
no, che a volte è bravissima in cucina ed a volte brucia anche una zuppa
(vi giuro mi è successo). Ma sicuramente sono una che si sorveglia, che
cerca di migliorare sempre, che se sbaglia sa correre ai rimedi, sa
tornare sui suoi passi a testa alta, pronta ad imparare qualcosa di
nuovo ed a chiedere scusa se necessario. Ah...e poi Valentina è una disordinata!
well, who am I ... I'm definitely inconstant, sometimes I like myself, sometimes don't, sometimes I am patient and sometimes I'm not, sometimes I am in my kitchen all day cooking up and sometimes I am able to burn a soup (I swear I did
it). For sure I always try to be a better person, and If I am doing
something wrong I am definitely open to change my mind; I am able to
retrace my steps with my head held high, and I am always ready to learn something new and to apologize when necessary.
What’s more.. oh, Valentina is messy!
2)Il tuo percorso non parte dal design. Quali step ti hanno portato a progettare Lina? You did not start your career in design. What steps did you take to design Lina?
Mah, chiaramente tutto è cominciato con il blog che ho aperto perchè
avevo voglia di scrivere di design, sognavo una carriera nel
giornalismo, magari cominciando con una rubrica su D di Repubblica.
Dopo la gravidanza partire dal design per bambini mi è sembrata la cosa
più naturale. Ora invece, dopo tanti post l'idea di trascurare il mio
blog per scrivere su una rivista non mi alletta neanche più tanto, il
mio blog è diventato non più un mezzo per arrivare altrove, ma è una
creatura troppo amata per preferirla ad altro.
L'anno scorso però non so neanche io come mi è venuto in mente di
provare a disegnare io qualcosa e senza pensarci troppo ho preso foglio e
matita e l'ho fatto!
Le Lina sono piaciute prima di tutto a
mia figlia, poi a Felix, poi anche agli amici a cui le mostravo. Alla
fine con l'aiuto di Felix, il mio compagno, siamo riusciti a trasformare
i prototipi in qualcosa di producibile, ed eccoci qua, speriamo che le
Lina siano le prime di una serie di accessori e piccoli mobili per
bambini.
Well, it all started with the blog that I opened because I felt like writing about design, I 've always dreamed about a career in journalism, the best would have been a section on D di Repubblica. After my first pregnancy writing about design for kids seemed to me the most natural thing to do. But now, after so many posts the idea of neglecting my blog to write on a magazine does not attract me that much anymore, i don't see my blog a way to get somewhere else, it is my creature, i love it more than other things. Last year, however (I do not know how this idea came into my mind) I tried to draw something without thinking too much about it, I just took paper and pencil and I did it! Both my doughter and my partner, Felix, liked my shelves Lina and so did the friends to whom I showed them. With the help of Felix, my partner, we were able to turn the prototypes into products, and here we are, we hope that Lina will be the first of a long series of accessories and small furniture for children.
3)Quali sono state le maggiori difficoltà che hai incontrato ma anche le più grandi soddisfazioni che ti ha dato questo progetto?
What major problems did you encounter and what has been your greatest achievement?
La vera grande difficoltà è l'affrontare
da sola qualcosa che non ho mai fatto prima, senza un consulente che ci
abbia fatto un business plan, senza esperienza pregressa nella
produzione, senza poter avere la possibilità di dedicarci full time al
progetto. La soddisfazione è avercela fatta, è vedere le Lina in un vero
negozio di design per bambini come YELLOWBASKET.IT.
I had to deal with something I've never done before, alone, without a consultant for a business plan, with no prior experience in production, without being able to devote all of my time to the project. But I managed it, and I have been able to see Lina in a real design store for children as YELLOWBASKET.IT
4)Quali sono le tue fonti quotidiane di ispirazione? Nella vita reale, ma anche nel cinema, nell'arte, nel design etc. What are your daily sources of inspiration? daily facts, movies , art, design, etc..
Leggo molto, on-line e non, compro molte
riviste, se posso me ne vado in libreria a caccia di qualche bel libro,
e appena prendo un volo, cerco stampa estera. Non posso non menzionare
poi Berlino e Londra dove abbiamo amici e parenti e che dunque
frequentiamo regolarmente. Queste due città sono chiaramente una fonte
inesauribile di idee. Anche Milano durante la settimana del mobile è un
appuntamento che ormai non mi lascio mai sfuggire. Sarebbe bello
riuscire ad andare regolarmente anche a New York e Tokio, ma piano piano
arriverà anche quello!
I read a lot, on-line or books, I buy a lot of magazines, when I do have time I like to go to the library to find some beautiful book, and as soon as I catch a plane, I read foreign papers. I can't avoid to mention Berlin and London, where my partner and I have friends and relatives and where we regularly go. These two cities are clearly a great source of ideas. Even the week of design in Milan is an event that i don't want to miss. It would be nice to be able to fly regularly to New York and Tokyo, maybe this will happen in the future, who knows?
5)Come
è nata la tua collaborazione con Marta ed Alice di Yellow Basket, che
hanno creduto in Lina al punto di accoglierla nel loro e-shop? How did your collaboration with Marta and Alice of Yellow Basket start? They believed in your project to such a point that they decided to sell them on line.
Conosco Marta ed Alice da prima che
aprissero il loro shop a Torino. Mi scrissero per invitarmi
all'inaugurazione visto che conoscevano ed apprezzavano il mio blog.
Anche io da parte mia apprezzo molto il loro shop che trovo davvero
molto ben curato ed assortito con prodotti che io stessa se avessi un
negozio deciderei di proporre ad i miei clienti. Inoltre sono due
ragazze simpatiche, intraprendenti e vitali. Le vorrei come vicine di
casa, le avrei volute come colleghe all'università, insomma sono bravissime e davvero simpatiche!
I have know Marta and Alice for many years, from before they opened their shop in Turin. They invited me to the inauguration event because they knew and appreciated my blog. I also like their shop that is really full of products that I would offer to my customers, should I own my own shop. Furthermore, they are two nice girls, resourceful and vital. I would like them to be my neighbors, i would have loved them to be my university colleagues, in a nutshell, they are very good girls and they are really nice!
6)Dopo
tutte le segnalazioni che hai fatto sul tuo sito, ora si inizia a
parlare dei tuoi progetti...come si sta dall'altra parte della
barricata? You talked about a lot of products on your website, now we are talking about yours. How do you feel on the other side of the fence?
Bah, ammetto che è
dura. Io per prima faccio fatica a stare dietro a tutte le mail, a tutte
le press releases che ricevo. Faccio davvero tanta tanta fatica a
tenere in ordine il mio blog, non riesco a fare un editorial planning
serio che poi riesca anche a seguire, faccio anche davvero tanta fatica a
tenere traccia di tutte le idee, di tutte le note che mi appunto su
quaderni quadernini e devices vari. Spero davvero che le altre blogger
siano meglio organizzate di me e che quando riceveranno i press kit
delle mie Lina sappiano subito archiviarle al posto giusto: tra le
"Things to Post"!!! Sto ultimando la versione inglese e tedesca del
press-kit, vedremo cosa ne esce fuori!
Well, I must admit that it's hard. I can barely keep up with all the emails and to all the press releases that I receive. I really make an effort in order to keep up with my blog, I can not make a serious editorial planning that then I am also able to follow, I also find it really hard to keep track of all the ideas, all the notes that I note on notebooks and on my devices. I really hope that other bloggers are better organized than me and that when they will receive the press kit of my Lina they know immediately where to store it: among the "Things to Post"! I'm finishing the English and German version of the press kit, we'll see what it will happen!
7)Stai già lavorando a nuovi progetti? Ce ne vuoi parlare? Are you already working on new projects? Would you like to talk us about them?
Mhhh...ho un paio di idee per nuovi "accessori da parete" di cui però
manterrei ancora il riserbo. Posso invece già anticipare che stiamo
cercando nuove nuances di plexiglas satinati e stiamo cercando di
mettere al più presto in produzione anche la Lina con lo specchio a
forma di nuvola che ho già presentato come prototipo.
I have a few ideas for new "accessories for wall" I don't want to talk about yet though. However, I can already tell you that we are looking for new shades of frosted plexiglass and we are trying to put into production the Lina with the mirror-shaped cloud that I have already presented as a prototype.
8)Non hai alcun limite: cosa vorresti creare? You do not have any limits: what would you create?

se avessi un buon mobilificio artigianale alle spalle mi lancerei nella
creazione di un letto Montessori come l'ho sempre sognato io per i miei
figli!
Well if I had a good handcrafted furniture company I would create the Montessori bed that I've always dreamed for my children!
