Maurizio Anzeri, Italian artist based in London, gives new life to old photographs (many of them are pictures of children) by sewing directly into them. Fantastic colorful embroidered patterns at odds with the vintage look of the photographs, which have been collected by the artist for a long time. Past and future on the same portrait. Anzeri sews his work personally: once the drawing is done, he pierces the photo with a set of needle-like tools he invented and takes the paper away. The holes are paced at the same distance to convey an idea of geometry. The final result is obviously excellent. If you are in London, see his work at the Saatchi Gallery.
